What is Dalworthington Gardens?

Dalworthington Gardens (often shortened to 'DG') is a small enclave city of approximately 2,293 residents (Census 2020) entirely surrounded by Arlington and Pantego in central Tarrant County. It was founded in 1934 as one of three federal 'subsistence homestead' communities established under the New Deal — the name combines 'Dallas,' 'Fort Worth,' and 'Arlington.' Today it operates as an independent municipality with its own police department, City Hall, and council. Sources: City of Dalworthington Gardens (cityofdg.com); Texas State Historical Association (tshaonline.org); U.S. Census Bureau.
