When was Mansfield, Texas founded?
Mansfield's origins trace to ~1856, when Ralph Sandiford Man and Julian Feild arrived and built a grist mill at what became the center of town. The community took on the name 'Mansfeild' — a combination of the founders' names — and was eventually re-spelled 'Mansfield.' The town incorporated in 1890, continuing as a hub for surrounding farmland. Source: TSHA Handbook of Texas, Mansfield Historical Society.
