About Tarrant County Desk
A free, independent newsletter for Tarrant County, Texas — three mornings a week.
Who we are
Tarrant County Desk is a privately owned hyperlocal news outlet covering Fort Worth, Arlington, Grapevine, Southlake, Mansfield, Azle, Crowley, Burleson, Westlake, and the unincorporated stretches of Tarrant County in between. We publish a free email newsletter every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning, and we maintain this site as a permanent public archive of what we cover.
Why we exist
Local newspapers in suburban North Texas have been hollowed out for two decades. By 2025 there was no single place a Tarrant County resident could go to find Friday's school board votes, Saturday's road closure, Tuesday's storm watch, and a list of what's actually open this weekend. Tarrant County Desk exists to be that single place — written by people who live here, not aggregated by an algorithm in a different time zone.
How we operate
The newsletter is free. We do not paywall content. We sustain the operation through two revenue lines: locally‑sourced sponsorships from Tarrant County small businesses (limited to a handful of slots per issue, clearly labeled), and a forthcoming optional reader membership for people who want to chip in. We do not sell reader email addresses. We do not run programmatic display advertising.
Editorial standards
We run corrections at the top of the next issue, not buried at the bottom. We disclose conflicts of interest. Sponsored content is labeled Sponsored. When we cover a business that advertises with us, we say so in the piece. When we get something wrong, we fix it on the live page and note the change.
